Last week, American-based developer/publisher Yacht Club Games announced that a few reveals will be coming in the following week regarding “Yacht Club Games products, including new Shovel Knight news.” Now the day has arrived and Yacht Club Games revealed that the long-awaited King of Card story expansion will be coming this December.

Announced alongside the DLC’s release date is the physical release of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. With King of Cards being the last expansion for the title, the physical version of the game will include the base game as well as Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment.

Alike the previous campaigns that release, the King of Cards will follow the journey of the King Knight as he must topple the three kings that rule the lands in this prequel story. Those who remember versing the King back in the initial Shovel of Hope campaign can expect his fight style to go on full burners when grabbing the controller later this year.

Uniquely, King of Cards will also introduce a new card-based game which will change the pace of previous campaigns. Titled Joustus, the objective is for players to win more gems than their opponent to win the game.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove King of Cards campaign alongside the physical release for the game will be coming later this December at an unspecified date.
