It hasn’t been looking too bright for Overkill Studios titular The Walking Dead title since the game dropped in November of last year. And now it seems that those who are still interested in trying out the title on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One might be out of luck with the latest update on the game.

Recently, Skybound Games have made an official statement regarding the game and the publisher’s decision to drop supporting Starbreeze Studios as well as the lackluster title.

We did our best to work with Starbreeze and resolve many issues that we saw with the game, but ultimately Overkill’s The Walking Dead did not meet our standards nor is it the quality that we were promised.

Skybound Games currently holds the publishing license for The Walking Dead universe as the publisher was co-founded with the series’ creator Robert Kirkman back in 2010 as Skybound Entertainment. But to see the project completely abandoned by Skybound must say a lot for what was to come for the game if Kirkman most likely took part in the decision.

Previously it was revealed that due to game’s performance on both major platforms, the title was delayed with an indefinite timeframe for when it will be ready to ship on modern hardware. Now seeing the recent decision from the company holding the game’s publishing rights, it shouldn’t be too long from now that the developer officially drops the title altogether.

You can read up on our review where we, as well as others have a similar opinion on why the game is in this current state.
