Since the arrival of Sonic Frontiers, many still could not believe the scale and volume that came with the game and the potential to propel its success. In a single month, the title sold more than 2.5 million units – a celebrated milestone for the IP. Additionally, the game was expressed as a martyr for players to respond to the type of game Sonic Team pieced together with the next to be even greater, explained game director Morio Kishimoto.
Additionally, the post-launch has remained exciting for many fans. The first update included many quality of life improvements as well as time trials & juke box mode. As for the second client, it featured the spin dash returning as well as New Game+ being introduced to the game. The last update is said to feature new story content as well as playable characters too.
At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Sonic Frontiers made an appearance revealing a teaser trailer for ‘The Final Horizon’. You can watch the video below:
“Experience a brand new story and play as Tails, Knuckles, and Amy in this climatic free update coming to Sonic Frontiers!” As part of the trailer, it also included Dr. Robotnik & Sage as well. And despite fans interest, the duo is not mentioned to be playable. However, the footage does include a glimpse at the towing final boss that you will face in-game.
Elsewhere, Sonic Team did address some controversy surrounding Shadow the Hedgehog. Studio head Takashi Iizuka told Game Informer that the Sonic Adventure 2 character is part of the ‘Modern’ storyline and cannot be featured in any ‘Classic’ 2D titles. This went on to have fans anticipate Shadow’s appearance in the final Sonic Frontiers DLC – which is illustrated now not to be the case. You can read the full report by heading here.
