Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Confirmed To Hit Theaters In December 2024

While fans were originally screaming at the thought of Sonic the Hedgehog during the original reveal for the character back in 2019, the complete tonal shift for the film series is otherworldly now in 2022. This past spring, the second installment ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ hit theaters and shook the box office becoming one of the most influential releases this year.

Looking ahead, Paramount already confirmed a third installment is on the way with a spin-off series starring Knuckles is also slated to release exclusively on Paramount+. Additionally, claims which were right about the second film also mention a solo Tails movie is in production too. Following the release of the sequel, producers Toby Ascher & Neal H. Moritz reveal that Jim Carrey’s role as Dr. Eggman is irreplaceable and would not recast if he retired.

In an announcement made on Monday, Paramount via the Sonic the Hedgehog movie official Twitter revealed that the next movie is scheduled to arrive to theater coming on December 20, 2024.

For fans online, if you look at most online storefronts the DVD for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is available now for purchase starting August 9th. What else is to come of Sonic the Hedgehog in theaters? Well reupping from the reported Tails film, there is a rich franchise that can come from all this. According to Ascher, a Sonic cinematic universe is being handcrafted following the success of the first two films.

Elsewhere, director Jeff Fowler has pressed on other video game adaptations he is interested to tackle later on. While more ambitious than tangible, he does share he believes he is capable to push out a Super Smash Bros. movie. Of course, this is a large IP guarded by Nintendo and the burning heart fans.
