The molded consensus for Sonic the Hedgehog is fairly split among the avid players that return to the series with each new installment. While many remain optimistic with each installment that comes through time, others are unhappy with some of the modern entries that hit store shelves. With Sonic Frontiers slated for this holiday season, it is perceived new life is being breathed into the IP with the title framed to be an open-world experience.
Many believe that most entries of the past decade delving on the sole third-dimension aspect have been underwhelming to say the least. Howbeit, users with similar viewpoints can collect their opinions concluding that Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic 06) could be the worst of the bunch when introduced on Xbox 360. Sega already went ahead over a decade ago to delist the game from the Xbox 360 store.
But now this week, users online discovered that Sonic the Hedgehog is now available for purchase. Noted, the game while now up for purchase – at a permanently discounted $4.99 – is not backwards compatible supported. This is disappointing to say the least with games like Sonic Unleashed & Sonic Generations both supporting the feature with FPS Boost enabled on Xbox Series devices as well.
One of the more accepted aspects of Sonic 06 has to be the addition of Silver the Hedgehog. For fans that are familiar with the character, but hasn’t played the game can now learn of his journey traveling 200 years into the past to warn those of the catastrophic events that have yet to take place. The character has since made appearances in a handful of titles since his debut.
On the matter of delisted Sonic the Hedgehog games, Sega announced more games are to face the same fate this month. With the upcoming release of Sonic Origins in June, the firm decided to pull all the standalone games included in the collection the month prior. You can read the full report by heading here.
