If you love Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends, you will be excited to know that McDonald’s Happy Meals are offering Sonic-themed toys in the UK and Canada. The toys are inspired by the popular video game series and there are 12 different characters and activities to collect.
The Sonic the Hedgehog toys are part of the Happy Readers program, which encourages children to read more books and enjoy stories. Each toy comes with a mini-booklet that contains a short story, facts, and puzzles related to the Sonic universe. The booklets are also available to download for free from the McDonald’s website .
The Sonic the Hedgehog toys include Paper hoverboards, tower stackers, puzzles, and mosaic posters. You can collect all 12 toys and create your own Sonic adventure. The toys feature Sonic and his friends, such as Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, in various poses and actions.
The Happy Meal box also includes an interactive digital adventure, by scanning the QR code on the side, kids can unlock the Sonic Speed Stimulator and zoom into a digital adventure with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy.
Dine-in customers will also be able to get themselves a number of small goodies to entertain the family, such as headbands, flags. McDonald’s will also have Sonic Themed Activity Sheets such as Spot the Difference and A Sonic Speed Maze available both in Restaurants and Online.
The Sonic the Hedgehog toys are Currently available in the UK until February 6th, 2024, and will be launching in Canada this Feburary with an unknown time frame according to a teaser promotional email from McDonald’s Canada. The toys are limited edition and will be replaced by a new set of toys after the end of the promotion. There is Currently no word yet if Sonic Toys will be coming to the US.
The Sonic the Hedgehog toys are not the first time that McDonald’s has collaborated with the video game industry. In the past, the fast-food chain has offered toys based on Super Mario, Pokemon, Angry Birds, and more.
