As of recently, gamers all around are aware of Sony’s current status with crossplay between them and their competitor platform over at Microsoft. And now Sony boss Shawn Layden has went public on what’s planned for crossplay with Playstation.
Robert Purchese of Eurogamer questioned Layden during a Gamelab conference in Spain, asking about Sony’s current status on crossplay and if the company is listening to their consumers. As the CEO could not go into detail what exactly is coming for the topic, he did leave a statement:

We’re hearing it. We’re looking at a lot of the possibilities. You can imagine that the circumstances around that affect a lot more than just one game. I’m confident we’ll get to a solution which will be understood and accepted by our gaming community, while at the same time supporting our business.

From the statement made by Layden as it is nice to hear that Sony is listening, it won’t convince fans angered by the recent decisions made on the topic leading to this. Best for them to accept the players demand for crossplay and that will ultimately win trust back. Especially as they announced a Playstation 4 bundle with Fortnite and no major crossplay available is an utter joke to attempt.
Following on this topic, Microsoft and Nintendo have been picking fun at Sony on the scenario by showcasing Minecraft crossplay between the two. And even taking it to Twitter with the survive together trailer.
For Sony to comeback from this controversy, the company will have to react fast. As waiting any longer than they already have will continue the negative effect this is having on them.
