COVID-19 continues to source some of the largest misfortunes for companies around the globe. While tech companies do thrive in some aspect with the amount of additional momentum provided by the influx of activity on respected services, there happens to be a downfall in the same respect. For example like internet download speeds: Sony revealed that all platforms under the PlayStation brand will be expecting slower install times in attempt to preserve consistent flow of online interactivity for those working from home.
Although the pandemic in one degree does come off to be an unfortunate detour for the company, the virus will not, however, intervene with the firm’s plans for this coming PlayStation 5 release. According to a report on Bloomberg, Sony’s ambitions regarding the launch window for the approaching next-generation console is virtually unfazed by the growing concerns that tails the coronavirus.
“A Sony spokeswoman said it doesn’t see any notable impact on the launch of its next-generation game console PlayStation 5 planned at the end of this year.,” the reports shares on the status for the upcoming hardware.
Evidently, some fans that follow close to Sony’s shadow have already discovered the company’s intentions when looking towards the console’s website. In the past week, the site has been updated to read “PlayStation 5 is coming – Launches Holiday 2020.” Not revealing much than what is expected, it does prematurely indicate the timeframe that Sony is confident the system will release.
The news does come as a surprise, especially for Sony seeing the troubles that the company is dealing with on the PlayStation side of things. Manufacturing is an evident issue seeing the amount of rare components necessary for the new console, fans gre concerned that this in combination with the outbreak could potentially delay the system’s launch.
Adding on, Microsoft had a similar situation on the other side of the table with the Xbox Series X. Showcasing the console’s architectural features, the company disclosed that the new console is set to release at the initially scheduled ‘holiday 2020’ release window.
Are you excited that both platforms are still planned for release at the end of the year?
