Sony has begun its 30-year celebration of PlayStation releasing limited-edition consoles, controllers, and more. They are also planning to release My First Gran Turismo which is just a free trial for Gran Turismo 7. Today, they reflected on the success of the PlayStation 2 and have confirmed the console has sold 160 Million Units since 2000.
Former PlayStation head Jim Ryan stated that the PlayStation 2 reached this number, but it was hard to believe at the time. It was believed the console sold nearly 155 Million units, but it turns out there were even more sold.
Can The Nintendo Switch Catch The PS2?
The reason why this is important is the Nintendo Switch has been nearing the PlayStation 2 in console sales. The console is currently sitting at 146 million units sold and it’s projected to hit at least 150 million by the time the holiday season concludes.
It will be a close call for the Nintendo Switch to reach the PS2 in sales as they are gearing up to release the Switch 2 in 2025.
Do you think the Nintendo Switch will catch the PlayStation 2 in sales?
