One of the largest criticisms for Sony in contrast to Microsoft leading up to the release of the latest console generation is the transparency between the two firms. In that, the Xbox company has offered plenty on the finer details of the Xbox Series X|S including backwards compatibility, cross-generation support, and the technical advantages of being an owner of its next-generation consoles.
And it is not to say Sony has not been vocal on the new console, it just leaves many questions unanswered leading closer to the release of the PlayStation 5. And now with less than a month away until its release, now would be the best time to share more information. And Sony does just that with an overview showcase for the PlayStation 5 UI interface.
In a new PlayStation State of Play presentation ,the firm features the differences that users can find when booting up the new system and how to properly navigate the interface for the console. You can watch the showcase in the video below:
Walked through the video by PlayStation Senior Director of Global Content Communications’ Sid Shuman, he presents the new card system that helps organize features implemented for specific games and other now-menial tasks that is now achievable on PlayStation 5. Ranging from the media captured like screenshots and video to the progression of your playthrough, players can find that all on the Control Center.
To elaborate further on the emphasis on games in the Control Center, players who are still playing through certain levels will have their progress featured as a card and if selected will instantly load up the level. Furthermore, these activities also go into great detail to incorporate certain unfinished elements: for this case in Sackboy A Big Adventure it is collecting a costume.
Shuman uses Game Help which pulls up images walking him through how to obtain the costume as well as a video showing where exactly to pursue the item. Even more, the media can also be pinned to the side of the screen and be used when playing in real-time, similar to the now-shelved snap feature which originated on Xbox One. Shuman also tells that the PlayStation Store is finally integrated into the console and is not a separate app to install.
