Sony Interactive Entertainment Collaborates With Play4Forests Initiative To Plant Trees For Unlocking One Specific Trophy In Horizon Forbidden West

Over in the realm of PlayStation, the long-awaited sequel Horizon Forbidden West is now here. While the title initially was featured to be a definitive showcase on PlayStation 5, Sony Interactive Entertainment went on to express there will be a version for the previous PlayStation 4 as well. However, there is one takeaway from the matter: it marks the last free upgrade when transitioning to the new hardware.

Originally, the PlayStation firm pressed that Horizon Forbidden West would include a native PlayStation 5 version of the game through purchasing a higher tiered option of the game. But, reception on the transparency on the matter resulted in the firm to readdress the issue. In the end Sony Interactive Entertainment elaborated every purchase option will include the upgrade, but following releases will require a $10 fee moving forward.

To celebrate the game’s release, Sony Interactive Entertainment & Play4Forests to help the environment through players’ efforts when experiencing the newest release from Guerrilla Games. Through the Arbor Day Foundation, users that unlock one specific trophy in the game will reward with a tree being planted in Wisconsin, Florida, or California.

Together with the Arbor Day Foundation, we will plant a tree for every player who successfully achieves the “Reached the Daunt” trophy in Horizon Forbidden West, up to a maximum of 288,000 trees. Through this initiative, SIE will help to complete three major reforestation projects in forests of need across areas in California, Florida, and Wisconsin.

For other territories, Sony Interactive Entertainment has collaborated with other organizations for respected regions to push for a greener outcome across the globe. This includes entities such as The Eden Project, Forest and Bird, Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald, and WWF Canada. In France, organization MyTree also incorporates earning the aforementioned trophy for the program.

“In Partnership with MyTree we will plant a tree for every five “Reached the Daunt” trophies achieved in Horizon Forbidden West by players who have opted-in for the activation, limited to a certain amount. This will support reforestation of local areas in France, planting up to 10,000 trees.”
