Sony Interactive Entertainment To Remove PlayStation 4’s Titular Communities Feature Next Month

For what was introduced in the PlayStation 4 era of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s reign on the console market, plenty of that was also removed in the last year or so. For one, PlayStation Vue was scheduled to be removed by the end of January this year. However, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to comb through the same entertainment-focused initiative on the PlayStation Store as well.

In that, the ability to purchase entertainment – either the being television or film – will now be facing the boot as well. Although Sony Interactive Entertainment shares that purchased content is promised to be accessible, the ability to purchase more will be gone by the summer. And not to mention reports of the closing for the PS3/PSP/PS Vita stores, it is unsure when more support is looking to find its demise.

One discovery that went somewhat under the radar to be ending is PlayStation Communities. The application that allows players to find users of similar interest is now told to be shutting down at the start of April.

Thank you for using the PS Communities feature on your PS4 console. Beginning in April 2021, this feature will no longer be supported or available on your PS4 console.

However, you’ll still be able to stay connected and enjoy messaging features and more on your PS4 and the PlayStation App.

While over on the Xbox spectrum of the market where users can still find groups and play the game of choice, there is a age-defining feature leaving the platform as well. Xbox One-era OneGuide is told to be departing later this year in May. The tool allowed users to easily navigate through channels and networks accessed by the user’s respected cable provider.

As for additions that will be applied to PlayStation, the latest PlayStation 5 is reported to be welcoming the use of its expansion port for internal solid state drives. Currently, the M.2 expansion drive internally is not activated for use to owners of the model. You can read the full report by heading here.
