What seems to be a standard for PlayStation users was only introduced back during the past generation console, PlayStation 3, is the unlockable trophy system. Through that, players can engage in story progression, multiplayer challenges, and other recreational functions to earn recognition for their time playing any respected title on Sony’s hardware. Migrating to PlayStation 4, the service was reiterated with faster unlock speeds and visual retouching.

But now right before the next page for Sony with the PlayStation 5 system underway for release in just over a month; the firm shares that a new system update with new adjustments will be incorporated this week. In a new blog post, Sony discloses that an arrangement of changes will be introduced in the aforementioned client install.

To better understand the system and how progression is implemented for trophy hunters, Sony shares that the level interface has been reworked completely and better reflects the achievements made for players that pursue the additional objectives.

We’re increasing the Trophy level range from the current “1-100” to “1-999,” so following this update, your Trophy level will automatically be remapped to a new level within this new range based on the Trophies you’ve earned to date. For example, if your current Trophy level is 12, your new level will jump to somewhere in the low 200’s. The exact level will depend on the number and grades of trophies you’ve acquired.

More so on the integrity of the new leveling system, player rank will be structured similarly to how trophies are organized – through its metal-based infrastructure. So, players between 1-299 will be bronze, 300-599 for silver, 600-998 for gold, and 999 for platinum. Each tier will be decorated with its own icon that represents how far in the rank category the player is.

In a finding from Gematsu that has now been removed, PlayStation Blog France discloses that the updated trophy system will introduce trophy tracking to PlayStation users. But already said of the statement being erased from the post, it is suggested this will be incorporate for the newer systems. Sony verifies the upgrade will migrate to the PlayStation 5, so the feature is expected to be included then.

What are your thoughts on the new trophy system?
