The PlayStation 5 presentation aimed for June 4th has been postponed.

Earlier this week, word broke out from VentureBeat reporter Jeffrey Grubb who supposedly disclosed that Sony would be unveiling the highly-anticipated PlayStation 5 with a planned showcase slated for June 3. While not directly addressing the date in his activities online, Grubb heavily implied that the event would be taken place on June 3 as he stated that it would occur “after June 2” when questioned if it will be before June 4.

Now in a new abrupt announcement made by Sony, the firm unveils that the showcase will officially be arriving on June 4. The firm revealed the detail with a new tease of frames showing off the DualSense controller. You can watch the brief clip in the video below:

Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO stated that this new show to be held for next Wednesday will be roughly more than an hour in length and feature some titles that will be expected to ship for the next-generation console. This directly coincides with the previous statement made by Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida which shared that new games are imminent for reveal for PlayStation 5.

Adding to the excitement, Ryan also discloses that this coming event will also be one of many that will take place in the coming months leading to the official release for PlayStation 5 in the latter of 2020. “A lack of physical events has given us an amazing opportunity to think differently and bring you on this journey with us, and hopefully, closer than ever before. This is part of our series of PS5 updates and, rest assured, after next week’s showcase, we will still have much to share with you.”

To be more on the dot is Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier who reported previously that the June 3rd date is not cemented for the showcase on Sony’s end. Prior to that, Schreier told that the showcase could be held either in early to mid June based off the whispers from the grapevine. Schreier that supported the statement in a recent report also disclosed that Sony will be orchestrating many events throughout the remaining course of this year to unveil more on the PlayStation 5.

Howbeit, in a tweet made earlier today, the June 4th date looks to be an unorthodox approach for Sony as Schreier relays that teams presenting were unaware of an approximate date. “At least two developers who will actually be presenting at next week’s PS5 event told me they weren’t given any date at all.”

Earlier today in a separate but relevant report, Eurogamer was informed that Sony is preparing compatible titles for the PlayStation 5 with a new initiative. The firm is reported to be instructing developers to submit titles launch post July 13 to be compatible for PlayStation 5 atop of the listed support for PlayStation 4.
