At PlayStation and the greater corporate Sony, entertainment is being pursued head on. And recently, it has been transparent that it is combining resources to bring this full & center. With the PlayStation Productions banner, we saw releases like Uncharted which is already being touted for a complete franchise. Additionally, The Last of Us on HBO has proven similar results winning 8 Emmys recently too.
Looking ahead, it was reported that its future projects include God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima as well as Gravity Rush. Furthermore Sony Pictures which is outside of PlayStation Productions is also piecing together a live-action film for The Legend of Zelda. From CES 2024, Sony does press lightly on the coming production.
On stage, Sony group CEO Kenichiro Yoshida says: “we are also excited about another IP expansion – the expansion of Nintendo’s game franchise, The Legend of Zelda. This live-action film deliver an amazing tale of adventure and discovery.” More interesting is that the firm also presented a trailer for the upcoming Gravity Rush film. The press conference also touches upon the upcoming God of War & Horizon Zero Dawn shows as well. “We’re also delighted to have writing underway on two new IP-based projects, God of War for Prime Video and Horizon Zero Dawn for Netflix,” Sony Pictures Television Studios president Katherine Pope shares.
Last month, it was confirmed that Twisted Metal is being continued with the greenlight for a second season. At The Game Awards, John Doe actor Anthony Mackie announced his return for season 2 coming in the near future. You can read the full report by heading here.
