Following the major leak from Wal-Mart Canada back in May revealing unannounced titles a month before E3, fans were eager to see official reveals knowing that the games were in the works. With titles like Rage 2, Just Cause 4, and Gears of War 5 got their debut at the LA event. But some games on the list weren’t seen at E3, Splinter Cell being one of them.
In the recent interview Game Informer had with Ubisoft CCO Serge Hascoet, he mentions his love for the Tom Clancy game series. Hascoet spoke about his “love” for the franchise to Game Informer’s Matt Bertz. Though we haven’t seen a title since 2013 with Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Ubisoft is finding a way to bring another title in the future. When asked about the shelfed IPs from the publisher, Hascoet responded with:
I can’t disclose any information at this time, but I can say we are fighting for resources. It’s not a question of will, it’s a question of means.
As it’s reassuring to see Ubisoft hasn’t forgot about Splinter Cell, this isn’t a sturdy enough foundation to confirm that there’s another title in the making. Weirdly enough though, the leak before isn’t the only time a new title was revealed. Amazon Italy leaked unannounced title, leaving the question if the game might already be in development. With this speculation hinting at the possibilities, we won’t have a confirming answer any time soon.
Back in April, one of our sources mentioned that Splinter Cell along with a list of other AAA titles will be market under Microsoft. You can read our exclusive report here.
