Publisher EA and Developer Hazelight Studios have officially released their latest co-op title, Split Fiction. The game features two female characters, Mio and Zoe who are contrasting writers, one writes sci-fi and the other writes fantasy who become trapped in their own stories after being hooked up to a machine designed to steal their creative ideas.
Split Fiction released on Consoles and PC on March 6, 2025, and it’s already a big hit. On Steam as of March 8, 2025, Split Fiction has an all-time peak of 254,756 concurrent players with consistently over 100K players on the game simultaneously.
These numbers are only for PC players and as for consoles it could be a higher player count, but we will never know what it is.

Sales numbers have not been revealed yet for Split Fiction but Hazelight’s prior co-op game, It Takes Two sold over 20 million units across all platforms.
What’s unique about this co-op adventure title is that only one person needs to own the game if you want to play with a friend. The Friend’s Pass allows players who play on Xbox for example play with someone else on PlayStation even if one of them does not own the game.
