vaultbreakers

It was announced yesterday that Square Enix invested in a small indie studio, BetaDwarf, to accelerate the development of Vaultbreakers, a top-down high-stakes adventure Action RPG. Players will fight challenging bosses in heroic brawler combat. You can play solo or with friends in PvE and PvPvE game modes.

Square Enix is always looking for high-quality games and talented development studios. When I played Vaultbreakers, I was genuinely excited by the experience of connecting with other players and exploring its rich game world.”, said Hideaki Uehara, General Manager, Business Development at Square Enix Holdings.

Alongside the announcement of the new Square Enix investment, BetaDwarf revealed the first full gameplay trailer for Vaultbreakers and are releasing a weeklong public playtest to show the latest evolution of the game since January.

Here are the new features in Vaultbreakers:

  • Evolving haven: Take your base from a pile of rocks to a powerful base of operations to unlock helpful NPC’s, new abilities, and lots of upgrades
  • Activable Items: Strategically use tools that enhance your build, like a grappling hook or a way to summon a wolf to fight with you
  • Playstyle Expression Upgrades: Expanded perk options and itemization to further customize your Champions
  • Solo & Duo Queue: Select your queue and face either solo or duo players.
  • More unpredictable enemies: New varied spawn locations system and varied patrol paths

Vaultbreakers is planned to be released on PC via Steam. A console release has not been mentioned yet.
