Star Wars Battlefront II’s Janina Gavankar Scores Role For Borderlands Film As Commander Knoxx

Although many video game films are still being developed with plans still uncertain, Eli Roth’s Borderlands is continuing to bring new faces to its cast in the past handful of months. Previously, Tiny Tina, Dr. Tannis, and Kreig all received casting from actors Ariana Greenblatt, Janie Lee Curtis, and Florian Munteanu respectively. Even more, it is tipped that even shooting for the film might already commenced.

In a separate report from The Hollywood Reporter, the video game-adapted film is to start filming soon in Budapest as early as March. However, there has yet to be any signs of life for the production as of writing. But, that is not to note off any other lingering information that surfaces following the previous report.

Coming from Deadline, actress Janina Gavankar is to now be joining the cast for the Borderlands movie. More specifically, she will be casted as Commander Knoxx. Those unfamiliar might confuse her with General Knoxx, the character’s father. Commander Knoxx is featured in the ‘Secret Armory of General Knoxx’ DLC for the original Borderlands game.

“If you know me, you know that this movie will be a lot more than just another gig for me,” Gavankar wrote in response to the report on Twitter. “I’ll be carrying every writer, dev, voice actor, and gamer that has worked on and played Borderlands, in my heart, as I head to Pandora.”

More recently, the synopsis for the film was discovered in a report from ComicBook, but, it is also revealed that Deukalian Atlas will also be featured in the motion picture as Edgar Ramirez (Zero Dark Thirty) is to be casted for the role. You can read the full report by heading here.
