Turning back the calendar to January 2021, Disney & Lucasfilm founded a new video game subsidiary – Lucasfilm Games. Part of this new division would establish a new outfit with growing reach for more companies to collaborate on projects under the Lucasfilm banner. One of the arrangements includes Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment. Said as an open-world RPG, the team behind Tom Clancy’s The Division takes on a new task for the outer galaxies.
Since then, there has been brief updates on the project. At the Xbox Games Showcase in 2023, Massive Entertainment revealed Star Wars Outlaws. Given a 2024 release window, details remained light on how much this new storyline reaches. But in a recent announcement, a new story trailer for Star Wars Outlaws was to be posted this Wednesday.
And as promised, new footage for the game was shared. Even more is a release date set for August this summer. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:
“Our game takes place in a golden age for the underworld – these syndicates have real power in the underworld in each of the locations Kay and Nix will visit on their journey. Their impact and influence will be felt wherever you go, from the vendors you interact with, the jobs you take on, the support you receive, and even the access you have to certain territories,” narrative director Navid Khavari says.
Alongside the August 20 release date now live as pre-orders are up for Star Wars Outlaws, there are also perks for Ubisoft+ subscribers. In the same post, it is said that service owners will be granted early access to Star Wars Outlaws three days ahead of release, August 27th.
