Starbreeze Studios’ Dhruva Interactive Acquired By Rockstar Games

Just this Monday, it was reported by Gamesindustry.biz that Rockstar Games have acquired Starbreeze Studios’ Dhruva Interactive, one of the largest game companies in India. Detailing that the Grand Theft Auto publisher purchased the Bangalore-based company for $7.9 Million, just $600,000 shorter than Starbreeze when initially acquiring the company back in 2016.

The report states that the acquisition will give Rockstar Games 91.82% ownership of the company from Starbeeze’s share and will go into effect sometime by the halfway mark of 2019. Dhruva Interactive if you’re not too familiar with the Indian studio has worked on some of the most anticipated titles this generation such as Halo 5, Dead By Daylight, Forza Motorsport 7, and the most recent Days Gone.

A statement regarding the acquisition from Dhruva Interactive CEO Rajesh Rao:

“Dhruva Interactive was founded with the aim of creating a world-class game development community in India, and so bringing the Dhruva team under the Rockstar Games label is further proof that we have succeeded in creating a talented team that can contribute to the best games in the world while helping to create a thriving local game developer community in India.”

The developer is said to work alongside Rockstar Games India which is based in the same city in Bangalore and work on some of the upcoming projects ahead for the publisher. Recently, it was reported from a Senior Animator at Rockstar Games India that there are several different games currently in the works from Rockstar Games.
