Starfield has been released globally on Xbox Series XlS, Xbox Game Pass, Steam, and Windows. Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, shared on Twitter that the game had surpassed 1 million simultaneous players on launch day (September 6). That would mean a majority of the player base would be on console since according to Steamdb, Starfield has only hit 269,177 concurrent players at its all-time peak.
Starfield exceeded 1 million concurrent players across all platforms today. Thanks to all the players who helped us reach this great milestone and congrats to the @BethesdaStudios https://t.co/5jFaCyPz4G

According to PlayTracker, Starfield had over one million players during its Early Access phase from September 1-5 on Xbox and PC. That number was across multiple days unlike the first day of launch where it had that many players enjoying the game at once.
Starfield also broke a new record on Twitch being the most-streamed console exclusive game.
