Bethesda officially released Starfield for Xbox Series X|S and PC in September 2023 and it became the biggest launch in their history. Recently, Todd Howard was interviewed by YouTuber, MrMattyPlays to talk about the future of Starfield among other projects. Howard confirmed that their latest hit has reached over 14 million players.
Among the 14 million players, the average amount of hours played is 40 per player. Todd Howard confirmed these details in the interview. You can see the quote below. (Thanks Klobrille)
“We now have three big franchises [Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Starfield]. Starfield with 14+ Million players, average play time of over 40 hours per player. We have our hands full taking care of all of these players & franchises.”
It is looking like Starfield is now a big IP for Bethesda joining the Fallout and Elder Scrolls tier. It has ways to go but this is a great start. The game’s first expansion, Shattered Space received its first trailer at the recent Xbox Games Showcase with a release planned later this year.
Currently, there are no plans for Starfield on PlayStation 5.
