Starfield Receives Uncapped Performance Tweak In November Patch Notes On Xbox Series X

For Starfield, the game that many fans waited years for finally arrived in 2023 and Bethesda has not ceased on support for the title in its post-launch effort. One of the energizing additions to Starfield was 60hz support on Xbox Series X|S. Enough so that it witnessed a 72 percent surge in players following the release of the update then.

Additionally, Bethesda Game Studios went a step further with the addition of more accommodating implementations as well. For one, the REV-8: a lunar vehicle that you can use to traverse the depths of planetary exploration with. The free update was also accompanied by the first story expansion ‘Shattered Space’ which arrived this fall.

Now this month, Bethesda is back once again with a new update that rolled out for Starfield which brings a laundry list of tweaks & fixes to the base game. One of the most eye-catching is the option for an uncapped framerate on Xbox Series X. “The uncapped frame rate option is available again for Xbox Series X users,” the patchwork reads. This feature was originally in the game before it was removed, but has officially returned as of late.

What makes this new update so significant is that players can now enable this feature alongside Variable Refresh Rate-supported displays to bring the most out of Starfield. Now, there is the possibility that the full game can reach 120hz output thanks to this addition. Of course, Starfield is still overdue for more optimization to bring out the best in its performance on certain planets, but is now more achievable than ever thanks to this.

Looking ahead, plans for the next major DLC has also appeared online. Reports indicate that ‘Starborn’ will be the title for the next story expansion. Starborn are intergalactic beings that have lived many lifetimes which enrich the latter portion of the game’s story and would be a good extension to how the game ended.
