Final Fantasy XV got some background on the story line of the game as well as a new character reveal during TGS 2015’s Active Time Report this weekend.
In the game, The Niflheim Empire has achieved world domination over everyone except Lucis who is using the crystal to defy them. King Regis (Noctis’ father) is the guardian of the crystal as King and can use its power to generate weapons out of the air at will. He has aged more quickly than normal as the crystal needs his energy as guardian in order to maintain the force field shield around the Kingdom of Lucis. The Queen, Noctis’ mother and wife of Regis, passed away when Noctis was only a small child.
Luna is a different story. She is the youngest oracle in the kingdom’s history with the ability to speak to the gods utilizing her double sided spear which serves as both a weapon and avenue to the gods. She resides in the Tenabrae and although it is under the Niflheim control, she is granted some latitude as those in charge fear her ability. Square Enix teased she and Noctis’ connection to the story by indicating they made a child hood promise to each other but in a “I know something you don’t know” type of way they are not saying what it is yet.
The new character, a black haired female called Gentiana, was teased in an image but didn’t get too many details at all. What we know so far is that she is connected to both Noctis and Luna in some way and will play “an important role” in the game.
