In terms of the direction Final Fantasy is heading, Square Enix continues to diversify the amount of avenues for the franchise. Of course, there is the three-part remake for Final Fantasy VII underway. However, the firm is also looking towards expanding the IP with a new installment – Final Fantasy XVI – already as well.
More recently, a claim went out signifying that Square Enix and Team Ninja are collaborating on a new project which tells a new story well before much of the plot of the recent entries. Additionally, the game would break its defining RPG gameplay for a souls-like experience. It was at the publisher’s E3 show that it revealed Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin.
This week from the 2021 Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix uploaded a new trailer for the approaching title to reveal a new release date slated for March 2022. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:
“Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin blends challenging and strategic action gameplay with the world and lore of the Final Fantasy series to create a unique action RPG experience. Join Jack and his allies as they throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine and step into a world of dark fantasy and exhilarating battles to discover if they are truly the Warriors of Light the prophecy foretold,” the press release shares for the game’s overview.
Additionally, Square Enix also launched a second trial for the game. Unlike the first that took place back in June for PlayStation 5, the new demo returns to the platform with an Xbox Series X|S version as well. Multiplayer is said to be included for the demo, but, it does not clarify if cross-play will be enabled then. The playtest is said to be live until October 11 later this month.
