Studio Wildcard announced today that their upcoming title, Ark 2 is going to be delayed until 2024 with no gameplay being shown until next year as well.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to delay the sequel’s launch to the end of 2024, when it will still launch exclusively on Xbox, Game Pass, and Windows distribution platforms (Steam/PC). We’ve put much thought into delaying ARK 2 for the betterment of the final product and the team’s well-being. This news will be disappointing to many – we feel it too – but we’re confident this heavy decision is the right one.”

Studio Wildcard also stated they are are still getting used to Unreal Engine 5 since its incredibly new technology for them. This impacts their workflow and plans for the new-generation we are now in.

“As we learn more about the engine and develop the sequel, we have adapted our workflows and adjusted our pipelines to accommodate this new next-generation paradigm, and because of everything that involves, we need more time for development.”

Ark 2 was shown off at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase in June 2022 which featured Vin Diesel as a character in the game that was part of a trailer they shared.

There won’t be any gameplay shown this year, but we will get to see Ark 2 assets from the developer as they also stated in their news blog. Ark 2 is planned to release for PC, Xbox Series XlS and PlayStation 5.
