The talent that follows Goichi ‘Suda51’ Suda shows when it was confirmed that his team Grasshopper Manufacture would be acquired by NetEase Games in 2021. Since then, it was understood that Suda is bulking up on his legacy IPs including Shadow of The Damned & The Silver Case. Not to mention the recent announcement alongside Hidetaka ‘Swery65’ Suhiro with Hotel Barcelona coming out later this year.
Additionally, Lollipop Chainsaw is also being remastered after a longing request from devoted fans. Developer Dragami Games is behind the project on the new ‘RePop’ release coming later in 2024. Another is Shadow of the Damned Hella Remastered. With only a 2024 release window, the title is deemed one of Suda’s more cherished IPs.
When speaking to GameRant, he explained that the performance for the remaster could be a blueprint for a go on a sequel for the 2011 release. Of course, performance is a large role if the project is profitable enough to chase a follow-up for the series. “putting out a sequel is definitely something we would like to consider. So, make sure you buy as many copies as you can find in the stores,” Suda explained to the outlet.
He adds: “Even if we don’t end up putting out a straight-up sequel or continuation or whatever, I do have a soft spot in my heart for the characters in the game, specifically Garcia Hotspur and Fleming. With Fleming, in particular, I strongly considered adding him to No More Heroes 3 and giving him a major role. Having these characters come out in something again, whether it’s a sequel or something else, is highly possible.”
For now, there is nothing concrete for a Shadows of the Damned sequel. But, it is not out of the picture either. What Suda did confirm is that legacy & new IPs are in the playbook. In a previous interview, Suda elaborated on the matter. You can read the full report by heading here.
