Reflecting back at E3 this year, Microsoft had revealed that the company will be acquiring a handful of studios that already create first party titles like Undead Labs and Playground Games. On top of more independent AAA developers like Ninja Theory. With one lesser discussed studio which is contrived of veteran developers from several other studios, going by the name of The Initiative.
The new Santa Monica studio has been out in the open for almost six months now and we’re still unsure what is in the works from the young developer. Despite the enigma of what’s to come from the studio, we are aware that more familiar faces will be joining the California-based studio. Sunset Overdrive‘s Director Drew Murray will be the newest addition to the new Microsoft constructed studio.
Murray on Twitter recently announced that he will be joining The Initiative, just “moments away” from being part of the new developer:

With the newest grab from Insomniac Games, this adds on to the list of ex-developers from Crystal Dynamics, Rockstar Games, Respawn Entertainment, and so on. The newest addition to the studio also projects Microsoft’s confidence with The Initiative making the hiring public despite there being reveal for what’s to come from the developer.
As the studio is less than a year old, this might not be the last time we see these hires from Microsoft. Illustrating what the scale of the one title might be from the Santa Monica studio or possibly hinting at there being more than on project in the works.
