Sunset Overdrive Has A Future, With Or Without Microsoft Says Insomniac

Sunset Overdrive to this day is a fan favorite exclusive on Xbox One and for a console that has had trouble with extending first party games besides Halo, Gears, and Forza you’d think Sunset would get one eventually. It’s been a little more than two years since the game released in 2014.
GameInformer asked Insomniac president Ted Price why there has been no movement on a sequel, and he replied, “You’d have to ask Microsoft.” But with or without Microsoft’s participation, Sunset Overdrive may grind again.

“We are passionate about that franchise, and we own it, so you may see more Sunset in the future from us,” Price said. “No promises, and no timeline to speak of, but it is something that represents our willingness to create unexpected experiences.”

Right now Insomniac is working on the new PS4 exclusive Spiderman game and its VR title The Unspoken, which has a full season of content planned. The studio also had a busy 2016 with shipping games like Ratchet & Clank and many others so I wouldn’t expect anything until 2018 or 2019 Sunset Overdrive wise.
This could possibly be a wake up call to Microsoft because we aren’t sure who wants to continue the series and who would be against it. Check out our 10/10 review of the title.
