Nintendo has just wrapped up the final direct dedicated to Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and with it came many surprise announcements. They began by announcing that Corrin, the main protaginist from the yet to be released Fire Emblem Fates will be debuting as a new fighter in February 2016. You will be able to play as both the female and male versions of this character.
They touched on Cloud and his stage Midgar that will be releasing sometime tonight for $6.99 as a bundle for Wii U and 3DS, or $4.99 individually.
The final announcement was that the wildly requested character Bayonetta would be joining the fight. She is the final character that will be developed for the game, and was #1 in the Ballot in Europe, while she reached the top 5 in the US. She will launch in February alongside Corrin, and feature a new stage called Umbra Clock Tower.
In addition, 8 new Mii Costumes will be available in today’s update, including Chocobos, Geno from Mario RPG, and Sonic and Knuckles from Sonic the Hedgehog.
Amiibos were also touched on, with confirmation that the three fighters discussed today would receive amiibo in the future. Also the Ryu, Roy, and R.O.B(Famicom colors) amiibo will be launching March 18, 2016.
