Suspicions Raised For Coming Metroid Prime 4 Announcement With Recent Pulled Listing On Amazon

As many fans on Nintendo Switch are aware – the wait for a new Metroid Prime game has been the ongoing trend for virtually the entire Nintendo Switch lifespan. For those that need a refresher: the fourth installment, Metroid Prime 4, was announced back in 2017. However, the wait was only prolonged after an update made in 2019. In that, Nintendo revealed development was restarted with Retro Studios now helming the development for the project.

Amid this prolonged forecast for a new Metroid title, MercurySteam shipped Metroid Dread just over a year ago. And with sudden success for this release despite Metroid being one of Nintendoi’s weaker IPs, it is suspected a new announcement could come soon. One rumor suggests as much from NateTheHate. Other claims indicate that remasters for the original Metroid Prime trilogy is still in the works also.

Recently, the static Amazon listing for Metroid Prime 4 has been removed this week. @Wario64 on Twitter documented the discovery in a recent tweet.

What brings significance to this is the similar activity towards The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Around the same time, the May-scheduled release was also found to be listed momentarily on Amazon at $69 before it being pulled – probably by Nintendo. The same for Metroid Prime 4 suggests that a potential update on the game could be issued in the Nintendo Direct scheduled for Wednesday this week.

Howbeit, it is clearly conjecture for this instance as no concrete evidence confirms if Metroid Prime 4 could be on the table for Nintendo’s approaching presentation. But since the wait for the game extends over half a decade now, it is certainly an appropriate window to do so and the recent decision could be the first sign for a change in the times.

Do you hope Metroid Prime 4 gets a new update soon?
