The Nintendo Switch has launched and it has done well in the UK selling double the amount of the Wii U in its first weekend and now it looks like the Switch has made history in North America for Nintendo.
In a recent interview with New York Times with Reggie Fils-Aime the President of Nintendo America confirms, Fri-Sat sales for Nintendo Switch exceeded first 2-day sales in Americas for any system in Nintendo history. Next biggest was Wii,  Zelda for Nintendo Switch the best selling standalone launch title (i.e. not a bundled game a la Wii Sports) in Nintendo history beating Super Mario 64.

With it only being March and the Nintendo Switch beating the Nintendo Wii in its first 2 days is big given the Wii was launched during the Holiday season where now they can promote the Switch months in advance and put out the big games everyone wants during the Holidays which means more sales.
We don’t have exact numbers of total sales, but we can tell it is a good sign for Nintendo and it’s pretty clear they are not dead.
