This past weekend at the South by Southwest event, it was revealed at the Sonic the Hedgehog panel Team Sonic revealed that a new game is currently being worked on with no further details following the announcement. Studio head Takashi Iizuka revealing that the developer has already “begun production” for the unnamed game and will reveal more about the game in the coming months.

Among the major news, more small-scale news was also shown at the panel. Such as a new trailer for the uncapped possibilities Team Sonic Racing has to offer when customizing your vehicle. As well as part one of two for a new animated short ‘Team Sonic Racing Overdrive’. You can watch the animation below.

And just like the Sonic Mania Adventures which released throughout the course of 2018, the second half of the new animation will release at a later point this year.

For when players can expect the new title to be announced will be difficult to determine. But if the latest rumor revolving around Sega is true about their partnership with Google, fans might get a glimpse pretty soon as Google will be revealing their involvement in the gaming industry at this year’s Game Developers Conference held in San Francisco, California.

Team Sonic Racing will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 21, 2019.
