It was more than a year ago now that developer Techland announced Dying Light 2 is in active development. Alongside new publisher Square Enix, the production at the time was scheduled to release sometime in spring 2020. While the demonstration for the game later on revealed to be more ambitious for a project aimed for 8th generation consoles, the firms still stood with its launch window until January where an undetermined release was slated.

Despite the unfortunate timing of events just months before the title was scheduled to drop, fans stood patiently for more information to be spared in the meantime. This happening before the events of COVID-19, more obstacles appeared before the team at Techland with an already full plate. Howbeit, the developer did go on to clarify development is still going as planned despite the setback made by the ongoing epidemic.

Now as we enter a new year leaving 2020 behind finally, Techland on Twitter teases that more on Dying Light 2 is on the way. The studio suggests that fans should “keep your heads up for 2021” in regards to its coming project.

The Twitter account goes on to elaborate that Techland previously pressed more Dying Light 2 information is scheduled to be released in 2021, but the latest New Year’s tweet cements that fact. As for the coming details that the team will include later this year, Techland does not reveal much on the matter. But guessing from what is to come, a development update is due alongside an understand, at least, as to when the game will be playable.

Since the delay of Dying Light 2, developer Techland found itself busy with more projects regarding the first Dying Light. By incorporating its now-cancelled Hellraid, the team resulted with a titular DLC for the 2015 release. You can read more about the add-on by heading here.
