Tetris 99 x Fire Emblem: Three Houses Event Now Live

The 6th Maximus Cup in Tetris 99 is now live and it brings with it a brand new unlockable theme. Following the trend of releasing Nintendo themes, this one is for the recently released Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Similarly to the Splatoon 2 and Game Boy themes, this one comes with custom sound effects, music, and visuals from the title. To unlock it permanently you must earn 100 points during the duration of the Maximus Cup which runs from August 23-26th, so act fast if you want to secure it for good before it’s gone.

With Nintendo Switch Online nearing it’s one year anniversary next month, Nintendo will have to continue to support and add exclusive perks to the subscription service. Tetris 99 was a nice surprise, but it’s understandable that some users are hesitant to renew since the NES games have been a slow trickle of sometimes only 2 titles per month. It remains to be seen whether or not SNES games will be added to the service, or if we will get another bonus game similar to Tetris 99.

Tetris 99 is available now for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers with a physical release coming on September 6.
