Tetris Royale Announced For Mobile Release

As we are already familiar with from The Tetris Company following the introduction of Tetris 99 nearly a year ago now, the publisher announced that a similar title will be debuting on mobile platforms going with the title ‘Tetris Royale’.

Just as expected from the title alone, the game pits players against one another in a battle royale iteration of tetrinome stacking. Unlike the September-released Switch exclusive, royale counts up to 100 players for the new mobile game. Offering online features such as leaderboards, daily & weekly challenges, and different customization options for the game’s layout when playing.

Atop of the already apparent titular royale mode, developer n3twork states that a “variety of game modes” are planned to launch when the game is ready to ship later down the line. One being the solo Marathon mode where players can play traditional Tetris to better their skills before hopping in an online lobby.

One noted feature that is stated to be implemented is the boosters and power-ups that players can use when in a game. It has not been explained how exactly the said items will be distributed, but it could imply for real-time currency to play part in the coming title. The studio also shares beta testing is aimed to take place later this year.

Previously, Arika revealed the first DLC for Tetris 99 which brings more modes and a proper practice mode for the switch game.

Tetris Royale is planned to release on Android and iOS.
