Developer Hazelight, the team most recognized for its ambitious and cooperative release A Way Out, returns with a new project that continues to twist on grasping storytelling alongside adding collaborative gameplay for friends. It was back in June during EA Play Live that the studio as part of the EA Originals program unveiled It Takes Two. The game tells the tale of a young daughter as her parents are on the brink of a divorce.
Through the pain she endures, Rose portrays her emotions through the toys & dolls in her room to display the feelings collected from the oncoming division of her two parents. Through that, studio lead Josef Fares and the rest of the Hazelight team capitalizes on the new canvas to integrate platforming and third-person adventure to a new level.
During this Thursday’s Game Awards, Fared took the stage to disclose It Takes Two will be arriving later in March 2021. You can watch the trailer that accompanied the announcement in the video below:
“Embark on an all-new, crazy journey in It Takes Two, a thrilling platform adventure game built strictly for co-op. Step into the shoes of Cody and May, two humans turned into dolls by a magic spell, who, trapped in a fantastical world where unpredictability hides around every corner, are reluctantly challenged with saving their fractured relationship,” the synopsis for the game reads in the press release.
“In It Takes Two, players work together across a huge variety of gleefully disruptive gameplay challenges such as piloting a pair of underpants or DJing a buzzing night club.With connected character abilities in every new level, an abundance of unexpected obstacles and hilariously heartfelt moments, players will work their way through a uniquely metaphorical gameplay experience.”
Similarly to A Way Out, It Takes Two will also offer a Friend Pass for every purchase of the game. Basically, it allows users to invite a friend to experience the game with them without the other player required to by the game.
