The Game Awards 2021: Among Us VR Announced For Meta Quest 2, PlayStation VR, Steam VR

Although the pandemic appeared to truly fuel the activity and conversations around Among Us, the game has yet to truly cease any momentum. Much so that the team already announced to be cancelling Among Us 2 with plans for a pipeline of updates to the original game instead. Since then, we saw the game migrate over to Nintendo Switch which is only the tip of the iceberg.

Later on developer InnerSloth shared it will be shipping dedicated versions for both Xbox & PlayStation later on in December. That includes Xbox Game Pass which is already available on the PC version of the service as well with console version next week. However, more platforms are still on the team’s roadmap according to the most recent reveal for the game.

During The Game Awards InnerSloth shared it is bridging the experience to virtual reality with Among Us VR announced. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:

“This new 3D experience will place you and our suspicious spacebeans in the heart of the Skeld, with all of the core mechanics of teamwork and betrayal you know and love,” the team shares. “The VR edition will continue to support the multiplayer experience too, of course! Now you can really have an emergency meeting together. (Note: VR version won’t be compatible with the original Among Us game, so you’ll only be able to play against other VR beans.)”

This is not the most outrageous announcement for virtual reality headsets this year. It seems the throne still belongs to now-titled Meta. During its keynote previously, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is expecting a virtual reality translation as well for the Meta Quest 2.
