Although Microsoft’s Windows operating system appears to be extremely malleable in the amount of opportunity available for users to explore how they want to use it on PC, some elements are still not available natively. For instance, Android on older Windows systems required third-party software such as Bluestacks to run the mobile system on PC. But, Windows 11 is changing that.

Since the announcement of the latest version for Windows, the new implementation of Chromium is shaking up how the operating system is able to perform. That includes auto-HDR, cloud streaming, and the revitalized Xbox App that Microsoft pressed upon earlier in 2021. Now, Google in a new announcement shares it will be involved in this venture as well.

From The Game Awards recently, Google showcased that its own Google Play Store is coming to PC later on in 2022. Despite little information on the pursuit, The Verge did receive a statement from Google on the matters of this new objective.

“Starting in 2022, players will be able to experience their favorite Google Play games on more devices: seamlessly switching between a phone, tablet, Chromebook, and soon, Windows PCs. This Google built product brings the best of Google Play Games to more laptops and desktops, and we are thrilled to expand our platform for players to enjoy their favorite Android games even more,” Google’s product director of games on Android and Google Play Greg Hartrell told The Verge.

Additionally, Google spokesperson Alex Garcia-Kummert added that the Google Play for PC is an internal project at Google and will not involve Microsoft on the matters. This comes to be a surprise as Microsoft itself earlier this fall stated to be implementing for more platforms for Windows such as Epic Games Store alongside Amazon in the coming months.

As for other announcements regarding PC from The Game Awards, Microsoft reveals that the firm is now rebranding Xbox Game Pass for PC. Instead, PC Game Pass is to be associated for the platform. The Xbox company also hinted Sniper Elite 5, Pigeon Simulator, and Trek to Yomi for the service as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
