It has been over 4 years already since the Halo Television Series was announced at the Xbox One reveal with Bonnie Ross, Nancy Tellem, and Steven Spielberg. Executives at Showtime say the network’s long in-development Halo TV show is “still in very active development”.
Asked by TV Guide, Showtime CEO David Nevins confirmed the news, adding that he’d seen scripts for the show. Perhaps tellingly, “still in very active development” but this is the same exact quote they’ve been using for 2 years now.
President of programming Gary Levine told TV Guide that the project is “still moving forward and I’m encouraged by what we’ve seen so far […] It’s still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime.”
This isn’t the only Microsoft title that is getting a live action film, in 2016 it was announced that Gears of War is going to get a movie and we have yet to hear anything on that. Hopefully 2018 is the year we finally get to see something with the Halo TV series.
