The Last of Us Season 2 is finally expected to enter production in Early 2024 after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delayed production for the TV Series and many others. It was clear The Last of Us was going to get a second season not only based on the reaction it got, but HBO renewed it before the Season 1 finale was released.
The first episode’s script for The Last of Us Season 2 was written and submitted to HBO right before midnight when the WGA strike started.
“We were able to map out all of Season 2,” added Mazin. “And I also wrote and submitted the script for the first episode and sent it in [to HBO] around 10:30 or 10:40 p.m. right before the midnight the [WGA] strike began. I think it’s becoming essentially a near certainty that we won’t be able to start [filming] when we were hoping to start, which is upsetting. We are all raring to go.”
It has been reported already that Season 3 of The Last of Us is planned and it will split The Last of Us Part II into two seasons.
With the news of The Last of Us entering production in 2024 means Season 2 will likely air in 2025.
