The Outer Worlds Reported To Receive 60 FPS Update Right In Time For Its Latest Story Expansion On Xbox Series X & PlayStation 5

While The Outer Worlds arrived to most major platforms back in late 2019, the game despite its timing never received a major performance update for the pre-existing upgraded console hardware or in anticipation for the now-arrived next-generation consoles which shipped in late fall. However, new reports suggest that the game is to finally receive that long-awaited update this week.

Already, developer Obsidian Entertainment already presses that The Outer Worlds can expect a new update in the approaching week just this past Thursday with the announcement of the ‘Murder on Eridanos’ story expansion. But now, users online are indicating that The Outer Worlds are now facing an abrupt enhancement to the game’s performance.

In one Reddit thread on r/XboxSeriesX, posters are telling a new 26 GB update has been administered and following the client being processed welcomes a new 60 frame per second performance. Even more, PlayStation 5 looks to be finding the same instance as well via @nsarmoredfrog on Twitter.

Following the reports of the update being registered for both Microsoft and Sony machines, Windows Central went on to verify the validity of the updates for both consoles. However, the outlet does clarify that the client mentioned does not hit 60 frames per second on the nail, but more so “close to it”. As of writing, it is uncertain if Xbox Series S will find the same fate as its beefier sibling console.

To remark on the significance of talks for a sequel underway, the news comes to be at just the right time. So when or if the aforementioned follow-up eventually arrives, it is presumed 60 frames per second will be part of the base package. You can read the initial report by heading here.

The Outer Worlds is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
