The Recent Reports For Upgraded Xbox/PlayStation 5 Consoles On The Horizon Likely Isn’t True

For anyone that glances through the glass cabinets in any video game department, most of the time it is missing the newest Xbox or PlayStation. Although Microsoft has thought in advanced with the Xbox Series S costing less to produce, the same story cannot be said for the Xbox Series X. Moreover with the same tale for the PlayStation 5 as well. Last year, corporate Sony acknowledged this problem verifying the setback will be present well into 2022.

Elsewhere, Intel even addressed the issue with the limited supply of semiconductors later on. The manufacturer’s CEO spoke on the matter with confidence that even 2023 could be a rough year for the two console leaders as well. So, that probably rules out the chances of a new iteration of the two consoles in the near future, right?

Well, TV manufacturer TCL claims this as much. In a recent conference the tifm held, it claims that the console refresh is aimed to arrive later on in 2023-2024. More specifically, the new hardware will accommodate for 60-120hz rendering up to 8K resolution which is where the firm enters the conversation.

However, it is likely the company is not revealing non disclosed information and is instead giving a projection on a likeliness for the newer consoles. Online many speculate the choice to speak on the matter from TCL is to give reason for consumers to buy 8K displays in anticipation for the new gaming machines.

From Niko Partners’ Analyst David Ahmad, he is certain that TCL is unaware of the release plans for the newer Xbox & PlayStation systems. “TCL wants to sell its high end TVs . It doesn’t have insight into Sony and Microsoft’s plans, even if a mid-gen refresh is likely,” he expresses in a tweet responding to the growing chatter on the topic.

So far, Microsoft was open to iterating on the current consoles for future releases.
