Skybound previously revealed that their game division, Skybound Games, will be working to conclude the halted Final Season for The Walking Dead due to the studio sudden closure months ago. The publisher has also announced their intentions to rehire those who were currently working on the game following the incident, and now it seems that Skybound was successful to do that for the most part.
Announced in a recent blog post, the company has revealed that development on the halted title has been restarted to help bring both Episode Three & Episode Four out to reach the game’s official conclusion.
We’re excited to let you know that many of the talented, passionate team members who originally worked on the game are resuming development efforts today!
Despite the assuring announcement, Skybound worded that “most of the team members” will be returning to finish of the last two episodes for the Final Season. As many were denied severance following the massive layoffs from Telltale, that most of them are coming back to finish off the last two episodes and not all was expected to some extent.
In the post, Skybound reassured those who purchased the entirety of Season Four via Season Pass will not have to make any future purchases to play the two unreleased episodes. As the studio kicks off the next episode for the Final Season, it wasn’t mentioned when we can expect the next episode. As Episode Three was originally aimed for the now passed date of November 6, it’s a good guess we might not expect to see the episode until 2019 since development will be reset for the upcoming episode.
We covered the first and second episode of The Final Season, make sure to check them out if you aren’t caught up already.
Episode One and Episode Two of The Walking Dead: The Final Season is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
