The universe of The Witcher has proven to thicken quite a bit these past few year witnessing the evident success of the latest installment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, along with the recent debut of the first season for the titular Netflix series this month. However, there happens to be a feud between both the studio behind the games, CD Projekt Red, and the series’ author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Those unaware of the complications between the two parties, both the developer and the creator of the set of novels could not come to an agreement as for where the future lies for the series through the publication of The Witcher as neither sides needs were met previously. But earlier in December, both the Swedish developer alongside the native novelist have finally agreed upon a new deal that would satisfy both expectations regarding previous agreements and future projects on the way.

We’ve always admired Mr. Andrzej Sapkowski’s works — a great inspiration for the team here at CD Projekt Red. I believe today marks a new stage in our continued relationship.

Aside from the new settlement that was made from both sides, this agreement ultimately paints itself for what lies ahead on future installments, which is trust between both parties. The author has and will continue to put his faith into the coming projects with CD Projekt Red alongside having even more of a presence within the virtual world of his best selling stories.

The developer has disclosed previously to be focusing its energy and resources on the coming Cyberpunk 2077, but elements of The Witcher look to be making its way into the futuristic first-person title. Such as the expansion layout of the 2015 title regarding upcoming content that will be developed for the game is one example. Another being the scale of the two projects: Witcher being more vast with wider landscapes whilst Cyberpunk holds verticality with in-depth structures.
