In just a little over a month from now, the presumed release for the latest installment in the Pro Evolution Soccer series is expected to arrive. Or, that is what we would assume. However, that does not look to be the case this year according to developer PES Productions. Instead, 2019 will be different instead of what fans are accustomed to with annual entries from the sports franchise.
In a new blog post shared from the game studio, this year will now instead offer a “season update” to compensate for no mainline entry for the Pro Evolution Soccer line of games. The decision was ultimately made to deliver the full potential of next year’s entry – for next-generation consoles, the team explains.
In that, the developer elaborated that due to the scope of their ambitions for what essentially will be Pro Evolution Soccer 2021, the team had the minimize its efforts for this year’s entry in favor for what will be a generation-defining release next year.
The sheer scale of everything we are aiming to achieve for our next-gen debut has made it necessary to pare back our efforts in other areas of development. As a result, we have made the decision to launch this year’s PES as a streamlined offering in the form of a “season update”. That being said, we are still extremely confident that this year’s game offers fans more than enough thrills to tide them over until our next-gen title is ready for launch.
Additionally, PES Productions also felt right to reveal the news as 2019 also commemorates the 25th anniversary of the series which began back in 1995 on the PlayStation. For upset fans, you will not be left hanging on this unfortunate announcement. Instead, the developer spared a glimpse of what to expect from next year’s release for the new systems.
Furthermore, the team disclosed that the release for the game could be expected a little sooner with mid 2021 in mind for Pro Evolution Soccer 2021. With the series met with majority of its releases in late summer, this should be reassuring to some fans waiting for the next game to arrive. The date for the update for the current Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 has not be shared in the update post.
Are you fine with PES Productions decision to scrap this year’s title for more time on the next-gen release?
