More than a month ago, organizer Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) announced that this coming Tokyo Game Show would not be taking place this coming September as the group is now in pursuit for an online alternative event to replace the in-person show that would have took place in Chiba city, Japan. At the time of reporting, the orchestrator could not provide concrete details on the coming show, but did spare more information would be released at a later date.
Now this week in a new press release, the CESA unveils that Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online will be taking place in the latter segment of this September. Alike other virtual showcases that take place throughout the year thanks to the still developing pandemic, the newly announced show will be free for any viewer to access as well.
Additionally, this coming event will also host features for upcoming products and offer livestreams/panels for other game-related content alongside the mainline stream of video game news.
In addition to the live streaming of e-Sports tournament, TGS2020 ONLINE will provide new information about game-related goods. The online round-table discussions covering the latest topics in games will also be hosted by the organizer. All of these online contents can be viewed for free of charge.
Most interesting is that the first day for the Tokyo Game Show, September 23, the organizers will be forming a networking hub for individuals looking to collaborate with other related people in the industry as you would expect from visiting the show in person. The firm tells that more information on the base for the business initiative will be shared this coming August.
As tradition for the annual event, the Sense of Wonder Night will be returning for independent development studios looking to platform their projects in the game competition. The CESA has yet to disclose which day the function will be taking place, but it is presumed we will expect 2020’s Sense of Wonder Night to be hosted on the second day, September 24.
Are you excited for this year’s Tokyo Game Show to be going virtual this fall?
