The Plants Vs Zombies franchise seems to be returning hot with not only one, but now two different titles that are expected to release within the next year. Already aware of the pre-alpha mobile title Plants Vs Zombies 3 which PopCap Games revealed last month, that is not all that publisher Electronic Arts has planned for the series.
Tracking back to the company’s financial report in May, it was revealed that Electronic Arts has two titles slated to release this coming Fall in Q3 2019: a new Need for Speed title and another installment for the Plants Vs Zombies franchise. Now according to the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office, a new listing has been discovered for the Garden Warfare subseries.
Reading the trademark filed under the EUIPO, the game is listed with the alias ‘Plants Vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville.’ Categorized with NICE classes 9 & 41, this determines the trademark to be filed under as filed “computer game software” and an “entertainment service.”
Just a week ago, the team behind the Garden Warfare series sent out play test invites for a new shooter dubbed with the name “Picnic,” so aligned with the timing of this new trademark, it looks to be that the unannounced project is Battle for Neighborville. However, although trademarks do have some leverage towards becoming the next property in a series, there is the off chance that the project does not pick up following officially being filed.
Do you think two Plants Vs Zombies titles enough for fans who have been waiting?
