Just earlier this month, developer Treyarch removed the sheet from the continuously leaked Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as the studio told that the game would be receiving a world premier later in August. Scheduled for August 26, players expect to get a glimpse at the story for the game to establish the setting for the next Call of Duty entry alongside answer some lingering details regarding the direction the new game will follow.
The firm executing the announcement did so through a live event on Warzone where players were required to follow a set of objectives while the game was given a slight makeover to align with the visuals you would associate with the Black Ops series. Finishing all set goals – players were granted the first trailer truly peeling the film hiding the new title/.

From what was gathered from Treyarch following its conception today, the developer verifies that Black Ops Cold War will not be a full reboot of the series. Instead, the new title will revamp the experience of Black Ops, but the core storyline follows directly after the events of the first Black Ops game from 2010.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will drop players into the depths of the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s,” the overview reads from the trailer’s description. “In a gripping single-player campaign, players will descend into the dark center of a global conspiracy alongside iconic characters Woods, Mason, and Hudson, as well as a new cast of operatives to stop a plot decades in the making.”
Elaborating more when discussing the game with Charlie Intel, Treyarch discloses that the story campaign will feature the ability to dictate how the overall experience will be told. Player choices during crucial segments of the storyline alongside how players approach certain missions are said to rearrange the layout of the plot leading to the game’s conclusion. While certainly not the first entry to implement this feature, it is refreshing to see it return.
Charlie Intel elsewhere has confirmed after speaking with the development team that Black Ops Cold War will also be arriving with both cross-progression and cross-platform play. The game will be offered on both current-generation and next-generation systems: alongside PC, all platforms will be open to play in the same lobbies.
